I've always enjoyed sneaking a peek into the worlds of other people. We are all so alike, yet all so different at the same time. That's fascinating to me. It's a large part of why I enjoy photographing people so much. What other job would allow me to wiggle my way into everyone else's world?
So in the spirit of fairness, here's a little peek into my world. This Summer my husband decided to spiral fracture one of his fingers so, instead of camping as a family, we rented a cottage not too far from home with some of our best pals. Some of my favourite things about our trip... We laughed, we drank, we did a lot of sweating together in the no A/C, we had real Anchor Coffee House coffee brewed by the master himself and the most delicious scones by lil' Rach. The kids caught dozens of frogs, climbed trees, learned how to not fall out of a hammock. Being under 60lbs makes that a lot easier for a person.
I find I photograph my own life a little grittier than I do for others. I'm not being paid so there's more freedom to make mistakes and capture truly what is. Who cares if you brushed your hair or if you have dirt under your finger nails. Here's a three day window into my world this Summer.
