Hello friends!
If you live on planet earth right now, you are likely aware that our world is slightly upside down while everyone is trying to navigate these unprecedented times. The coronavirus is making life less than easy for everyone. I wanted to focus specifically on what it means for people with weddings booked, people who are looking to have photos of their children, new babies, and overall what it means for my business {Other photographers and vendors can feel free to swipe some of this info as it applies to you}.
Firstly, Weddings
For those who's weddings are directly effected by the fast changes happening right now, I want you to know that I'm on your team! My plan is to be as flexible as possible to help all of my couples in any way possible while still keeping my business above water. It's been a hard time for anyone working with or in the event industry, that's for sure.
What I'm recommending my clients do if they know that their date has been effected is to postpone your date. I am opening all of my Fridays and Sundays that I can as available dates for clients needing to reschedule. Usually I only work one wedding a weekend but I know these times are hard and I want to ensure you have the least amount of stress as possible.
Another option that I have seen some people do is to minimize their guest list and instead of having the large wedding, have just close family instead. This of course won't work for everyone but there may be some of you who would prefer a more intimate wedding.
If you would like to see a list of available dates that I have open, feel free to send me a direct message to hello@emmadavidsonphoto.com.
Unfortunately if you do decide to go with a date that I don't have available, you would be forfeiting your retainer. The remaining balance would, of course, not be due. Know that I also want to avoid this option, I want to celebrate with you and offer my service to you. I build such wonderful relationships with my clients and it means so much to me to follow the relationship through to the moment you have your photos hanging on your walls.
Although these are unimaginable circumstances than non of us saw coming, the retainer collected helps to keep the business running (which is a part of why it is nonrefundable for any circumstance within your contract).
Secondly, Engagements or Family Sessions/Portraits
This applies to families, maternity or wedding clients who were hoping to do their engagement session soon.
Just in case you haven't been following along with the news, the Province of Ontario has issued social distancing guidelines. As of last night that has also come along with potential fines of up to $1000 for individuals who are not following the guidelines. These are the guidelines if you weren't already aware:
- avoiding crowded places and non-essential gatherings
- avoiding common greetings, such as handshakes
- limiting contact with people at higher risk (e.g. older adults and those in poor health)
- keeping a distance of at least 2 arms lengths (approximately 2 metres) from others, as much as possible
Since technically photo shoots are non-essential gatherings, for now we will need to put a pause on these sessions.
If you have paid a retainer for a session, this is still valid and we can just postpone your session until we're safely allowed to hang out together again :) The credit will be saved on your account.
If you would like to book a future session, or have any concerns feel free to shoot me a message so we can chat!
Anyone who has USB's, prints or other art to pick up. I'm happy to do a drive by porch grab for you :)
Thirdly, circling back around to Weddings...
Am I booking 2021 weddings? Absolutely! Life must go on and this will not last forever. We will get through this, we will live and continue to love. I believe that photographic documentation is one of the most beautiful heirlooms we can pass on to future generations, not to mention enjoy ourselves. If you are recently engaged and COVID-19 is ruining your mood, lets chat over the phone and remember why you getting married is still exciting! As of right now all consultations are over the phone or FaceTime. Head on over to my contact form if interested in more info... Here.
I'm kind of really digging the new Frozen 2 and this quote is so fitting... "But you must go on and do the next right thing."
Happy Weekend friends!
Emma
