Choosing a wedding photographer can be a tough decision. I've worked with over 135 brides in my 10 years as a professional photographer and I can say that these three things have been the most important to my clients and their experience on a whole:
1. Connection. The most single important thing is choosing a photographer that you can connect with. Your wedding day is special, and the wedding photographer(s) will likely be spending the entire day with you, your friends and your family.
2. Style. Secondly, you're going to want someone who fits your style and the vision for your wedding day. This way you can leave them to do their job and you can enjoy your day - you can relax knowing you'll get great photos that you can be excited about.
3. Specialist. Find a photographer who specializes in weddings. You may find yourself saying, "I have a friend who takes nice photos and they have a Digital SLR. I think I'll just get them to snap some photos and save money." But there is a world of difference between a friend with a nice camera and a professional, it could give you a lot of savings, but it's also a big risk.
A professional wedding photographer has likely spent years training through workshops and experience. They have learned how to adapt to changing light situations and with large groups of people. A wedding photographer is someone who is good with people, who can deal with stressful family members, can keep smiling all day; all while ensuring you have hundreds of photos that make you look your best.
There are obviously many more meaningful ways to choose the best photographer for you. But starting with these three tips is huge. Book consultations with your favourites, chat about your vision and explore their printed work. Choosing the best photographer for you will ensure you can celebrate your wedding for years to come.
Kind words from Meagan & T.J.
"We could not have chosen a better photographer to work with. Of course, Emma is a very talented artist. Her use of natural light, her creativity, and her ability to organically capture the most meaningful moments of our wedding day was brilliant.
She bridges the gap between modernity and traditionalism in a way that is unparalleled by any other Windsor-based photographer we’ve seen. Her photographs will certainly stand the test of time. Beyond her work, Emma was charming, professional, honest, laid back, accommodating, and demonstrated a genuine commitment to us as a couple.
From our initial consultation, it felt like we were getting to know a new friend. We highly recommend hiring Emma for your wedding day, or any other important occasion that you want to remember forever. You won’t be disappointed."
